Fixed on Jesus

As I sit here this morning with my cup of coffee, I spent some time reflecting on God’s faithfulness and how we can keep our eyes fixed on him. It is SO easy for me to go down a rabbit hole of worry and fear, but when my mind does this I am reminded of how I can’t think of one time Jesus has failed me. Every single day of our lives we have to depend fully on God and keep our fixed on Him and combat doubt that creeps in.

So how do we do this? Do you remember the story when Jesus walked on water, and the disciples were afraid? They thought they had seen a ghost, and they cried out in fear. But this is what Jesus said to them, “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.” First, can you imagine being one of those disciples in that boat seeing Jesus walk on water? What a crazy experience that must have been. So then Peter, one of the disciples said, “Lord if is it is you, tell me to come on the water.” Jesus told Peter to come and he starting walking toward Jesus. But do you know what happened when he started to take his eyes off of Jesus? Peter started to sink. He cried out, “Lord SAVE ME.” So Jesus reaches out his hand and says to him “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

So I wonder would I be brave enough like Peter to get out of the boat? It isn’t unusual for my faith to start out unstoppable, but sometimes as I settle into my new circumstances and they become my “new normal” I take my off of Jesus. But the kind of faith we need, is the kind that when the storm hits we don’t falter.

When I start to feel like I am sinking, I picture this miracle in the Bible and envision Jesus holding out his hand to pick me back up. Jesus holds you and we has you. He loves you so much and he wants you to know Him. I know for certain that without Jesus in my life I wouldn’t have been able to get through most circumstances and hardships. So today, I pray that you will keep your eyes fixed on Jesus even in the middle of the storm.
