Why I Started This Blog And Biblical Basis of Despair

Thanks for reading this. I felt that it was better for me to start a blog than post on my instagram or Facebook which might have felt like I am trying to influence or preach to others. Instead, this is meant to be a safe place for me and potentially others to communicate their authentic emotions. In our culture, despair is not welcomed. Pain and other types of bad news are rarely seen for what they. Not everything is going to be tied in a shiny “Christian” bow where the recipient is made happy by the update and affirms their yellow sun/blue sky/ paint by numbers understanding of life.

The choice of this title, Enduring Despair, therefore has two meanings. The primary meaning is developing strategies through community and sharing “how to endure despair.” However there will be posts that sound more like enduring despair as an everlasting state that has no end point. For anyone who has experienced real adversity in their life, it often seems to have no end.

From a biblical perspective, despair is normal. In fact, there is an entire book of the Bible called Lamentations that is all about despair.

So, to the reader my advice would be to buckle up and prepare yourself for an authentic discussion of real topics that are both frustrating personally and perplexing in terms of understanding God’s plan. If you’ve found yourself here by accident and aren’t prepared to engage in these topics on a personal level, please return to social media where my others posts will be appropriately curated for that medium.

Thanks for being here,

Heather H.
